This summer, I took a trip to Spain and Portugal in an effort to take a much-needed break from work. Only a few days into the trip, I found myself spending more time examining the architecture than anything else. The trip away from work quickly turned into a trip that reinspired my work.
Architecture in Spain and Portugal is gothic, with an inherent ability to make every detail elaborate. Large, arched doorways and windows frame views of rivers, the streets of these cities, and even the beautiful interiors of where they reside. Strong structures made of masonry stand tall with delicate spires, lined along the top. Large cathedrals that took centuries to build are not hard to find and once they are found it is impossible not to admire them, especially when I have spent years of my life studying them.
I came back to work with new ideas to incorporate into projects, new color schemes to work with, pictures to include in inspirations boards, as well as a refreshed motivation that reminded me of the reasons, I became an architect.
